Chocolate Chip Cookies Made With... Ice Cream?

The first thing that I ever learned how to bake on my own was chocolate chip cookies. Man, have I made a lot of them! I would always use the recipe from the back of the Nestle Toll House Chocolate Chip bag and nothing else, because why mess or change a recipe when it's already so. so yummy? Then came along Pinterest. It opened my eyes to all sorts of different ways to make chocolate chip cookies even better! Like this little gem I found; ice cream chocolate chip cookies by Picky Palate. After trying this recipe, I never looked back. Gone is the recipe from a bag, and "Hello" to an excuse for me to by ice cream!

YAY ICE CREAM!

Now you are probably wondering "Why would you put ice cream in with chocolate chip cookies?" I  had the exact same question when I first saw it too. I just had to try it! A couple hours later I had my answer. So flavorful and gooey! The vanilla ice cream gives the cookies more flavor and the creaminess of the ice cream keeps the cookies moist and soft. This is my new favorite chocolate chip cookie recipe! This recipe makes up to 3-4 dozen of delicious cookies.

^The ingredients ^

Now, time to prep. Take out your butter to begin the softening. It takes about half an hour to soften. If you want to cut that time, cut up the butter into cubes. Let the eggs sit for half and hour as well. It disperses better in the dough if the eggs are at room temperature.  Preheat oven to 350.

Once the butter is softened,  mix with the white sugar and the brown sugar. Mix until it looks fluffy.

IT'S SO FLUFFY!!

Add in eggs and vanilla; mix until well combined

Now it's time for the ice cream! Add one heaping scoop of ice cream of your choice.

Nice and creamy :)

In another bowl, add flour, baking soda and salt and mix well. Slowly add to wet ingredients, along with the bag of chocolate chips.

This, plus....

this, equals....

THIS!

Place cookies on cookie sheet. You can either dump them on with a spoon, or use a medium size ice cream scoop for more shapely cookies.

Seems fitting to use a scoop for these babies :)

Bake for  9-11 minutes, or until cookies are baked through. Cookies should be golden on the bottom and look that they are starting to crack on top.

Once out of the oven, let them cool on the cookie sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them over to a cooling rack.

*sniffle sniffle* They're so beautiful!

And last, but not least, devour! Eat with milk, or serve it warm on top of ice cream.

So go on and try these babies out! Try it with other kinds of ice cream. You don't have use vanilla. If you are a coffee lover, try it with coffee ice cream. If you like chocolate, try it with chocolate! Experiment and let me know how it goes! Share which ones work and which ones to avoid. If you have any questions, just ask. Get in there and bake! :)
